Why train with us?

  • Low student to instructor ratios : 3 or 4 students per instructor both in the pool and ocean

  • Our retail store is located downtown.

  • Diving courses available all year-round. Private courses available.

  • We teach children 10 years and older.

  • Passionate team of Instructors and Divemasters who love to teach.

Using Drysuit for Advanced :
If you have a Drysuit Specialty Certification and have some recent experience diving in a drysuit, you may rent a drysuit for your Advanced Course. If you do not have a certification or recent experience you will be required to do some dives prior to the Advanced Course in order to be prepared.

Equipment Rental :
Diving Sports includes all the basic gear included in our Drysuit and Wetsuit rental packages. Mask, snorkel are not included. Dive computer, and DSMB are not included in the course but are required, and may be rented.

Transportation :
Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 6 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Having a buddy is not required as divers will always be ‘buddied’ up if alone but there are discounts available for more than one student signing up. The discount is
applied by ‘adding a buddy’ at the bottom of the sign up process.

Who is this course for:

After finishing the Open Water course, a lot of divers want to know what is next for them. The next logical step if you are interested in expanding your skillset and diving limits is the Advanced course. We always say that you do not have to “be advanced” to take the course; the Advanced course is designed to take you to the next level and help you become an advanced diver. Once you have done a few dives following your Open Water course, or if have been diving for years, and you have a good mastery of the basic skills then the Advanced course may be the next step for you.

(Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old are ready to step up and enroll in a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver course. Young divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives and have different training limits – please check with us on these details. Students who complete the Advanced certification course will be able to dive to a depth of 100ft (30m).

We are in the business of training, mentoring, and supporting students to become safe, skillful and confident divers. We begin by scheduling our courses with the number of classes it typically takes most students to master the knowledge and skills, then adapt and tailor our schedule to fit our individual student’s needs. Our instructors are open and honest about your progress during each part of the course. Students may need to schedule additional pool or ocean training dives prior to certification. This ensures our students complete their courses with all the skills and knowledge they need to be safe and enjoy their future dives and courses. When you take a course with Diving Sports, you are welcomed into a passionate and inclusive community of divers eager to support your diving journey well beyond the duration of your class.
