Egmont Weekend Scuba Diving Retreat | 3 Days of Boat Diving on the Sunshine Coast
Join Diving Sports Canada for an unforgettable weekend scuba diving retreat in Egmont, BC. Located at the mouth of the Sechelt Inlet, this trip offers nutrient-rich currents, thriving marine life, and some of the best cold-water diving in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll be based at Porpoise Bay Resort for 2 nights, with 3 days of guided boat diving and great food included.
Marine Life Highlights:
Expect to see feather stars, giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, nudibranchs, crimson anemones, sponges, and even the rare Gorgonian Fan corals at the famous Powerlines site. We may also visit the HMCS Chaudière shipwreck.
Who Is This Trip For?
- Advanced cold-water divers (minimum 100 dives, or checkout dive required)
- Photographers seeking macro and wide-angle opportunities
- Divers experienced with boat diving and current
What’s Included:
- 2 nights accommodation at Porpoise Bay Resort (custom yurts)
- Homemade meals daily
- 6 guided boat dives
- Tanks, weights, air fills
- Transportation & ferry fees (7 van spots, discount if self-driving)
What’s Not Included:
- Nitrox fills (available through the charter)
- Rental gear — Reserve rental equipment here
Diving in a Drysuit?
You must have a Drysuit Specialty certification if you plan to dive in a drysuit. Don’t have one? Take our PADI Drysuit Course before the trip.
Requirements to Join:
- Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
- At least 15 cold-water dives
- Recent cold-water dive within the last 6 months
- Comfortable diving without a guide
- Minimum age 12 (minors require parental/guardian consent)
Trip Flow & Meeting Time:
- Day 1 – 8:00 AM: Meet at Diving Sports Canada (4578 Main St, Vancouver) to pack van and head to Horseshoe Bay ferry
- 9:45 AM: Ferry departure to Sunshine Coast
- Afternoon: Arrive in Egmont, check in at resort, prep gear
- Evening: 1 boat dive, then dinner together
- Day 2: 3 boat dives during the day, optional night dive from dock
- Day 3: 2 morning dives, lunch, pack up, return ferry to Vancouver
Protecting Our Wildlife:
All divers must follow the strict “look, don’t touch” rule to protect marine life. Divers who do not follow this will be asked to sit out subsequent dives.

Packing List
Along with your regular items for a multi-day trip, here is a list of equipment you will need for this dive trip:
- Basic Scuba Kit: Regulator, BCD, exposure suit, gloves, boots, hood, fins, mask
- Dive Computer (required for each diver)
- Dive Light (recommended)
- DSMB (required for each diver)
- Dive Camera (pics or it didn't happen!)
