Using a Drysuit for your Buoyancy training :
If you have a Drysuit Specialty certification and have drysuit dives within 1 year then you may rent a drysuit for the course. If it has been sometime since you have dived in a drysuit, or have not been trained in one yet, you may be asked to do a refresher or the drysuit specialty prior to the Buoyancy Course.
Equipment Rental :
Diving Sports includes all the basic gear with the course except mask and snorkel. Dive computer and DSMB are not included in the course and are required, and may be rented.
Transportation :
Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 6 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Meet times are 1 hour earlier for those needing transportation to ocean dives.
BUDDY SPECIAL :
Having a buddy, someone to train or dive with is not required as divers will always be ‘buddied’ up if alone but there are discounts available for more than one student signing up. The discount is applied by ‘adding a buddy’ at the bottom of the sign up process.
Who is this course for:
Any certified diver who can demonstrate all Open Water Diver skills efficiently and has sound buoyancy techniques who wants to learn to fine-tune and master their buoyancy control under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
Introducing a diver to the benefits of controlling their buoyancy usually has a great positive effect, an effect that will enhance the diver’s sense of enjoyment and feeling of accomplishment. This specialty is designed to increase the open water diver’s understanding of the factors that influence buoyancy, and to train the diver how to use the means available to them as methods for controlling their buoyancy. The added benefits to the marine and freshwater environments, cannot be overstated; as well as a diver that has better control of themselves in conjunction with their environment.
What You Will Learn:
Over the course you will learn why we care so much about buoyancy, what kinds of changes affect buoyancy, different techniques of controlling breathing, and proper weighting. We will also be focusing heavily on body position in the water, controlled movements and streamlining.
