Frequently Asked Questions

What rental gear will I need?

If you don’t own your own gear, we offer full rental packages or individual pieces. For most dives, you’ll need a drysuit or a 7mm two-piece wetsuit (May–September), BCD, regulator with drysuit hose if applicable, 5mm boots or thicker, 5mm gloves or thicker, and a 5mm hood or thicker. Tanks and weights are always included in our trips.

Do you recommend any extra gear?

Yes! A dive light is recommended—especially in darker conditions depending on the season. A dive computer is also highly encouraged for safety and tracking your dives.

Can I dive in a wetsuit in BC?

Yes, a wetsuit can be comfortably used from May to September. However, a drysuit is the preferred option year-round. If you’re interested in learning how to dive in a drysuit, check out our PADI Drysuit Specialty Course.

What is the water like in British Columbia?

BC waters offer world-class diving! Temperatures range from 4°C to 9°C. Visibility is typically best in fall and winter. Summer diving can be impacted by runoff and plankton blooms, but it’s still a great time to dive in a wetsuit.

What kind of marine life can I expect to see?

BC’s waters are teeming with marine life! Expect sea stars, nudibranchs, sea cucumbers, rockfish, lingcod, and our famous Giant Pacific Octopus. You might even spot a wolf eel, seal, or sea lion!

Do you provide transportation to dive sites?

Yes, we provide transportation from our shop to the dive site and back using passenger vans.

When should be my last dive to sign up for the trip?

You should have proof of a dive within the last 6 months to sign up for our trips.

Is an Open Water certification enough to sign up for the trips?

The majority of our trips require Advanced Open Water certification. You can learn more or enroll in the course here: Advanced Open Water Course.
