What We Will Cover

We will spend an evening reviewing the eLearning material and extra slides you receive and combine it with hands on experience with equipment for the maximum enjoyment and knowledge development.

Gear Selection:

Learn how to select the right scuba equipment to match your diving style, conditions, and personal preferences. Understand the differences between various types of regulators, buoyancy control devices (BCDs), wetsuits, drysuits, masks, and fins.

Equipment Care and Maintenance:

Discover the art of equipment maintenance. Properly cleaning, storing, and maintaining your gear ensures its longevity and reliability. You'll also learn how to perform basic equipment repairs, increasing your self-sufficiency as a diver.

Dive Computer Familiarity:

Dive computers have become indispensable for modern divers. This course introduces you to these essential tools, teaching you how to read and understand their data, plan dives using dive tables, and utilize them for safe diving.

Troubleshooting and Emergency Procedures:

Equip yourself with the knowledge to identify and address equipment malfunctions or issues that may arise during a dive. Understanding troubleshooting techniques and emergency procedures is vital for ensuring dive safety.

Hands-On Experience:

Get hands-on experience with equipment, including minor disassembling and reassembling gear. This practical knowledge will boost your confidence when it comes to using and maintaining your equipment.

Equipment Testing:

Course Prerequisites:

  • Open Water required (for the full specialty certification).
  • 10 years or older
  • We are doing our part to try and reduce plastic use, so all of our certifications will be digital. If students would prefer a physical certification card, then they may pay to have one at the time of certification.

  • This is not intended as an Equipment Technician Course. We will not be covering how to complete a regulator or BCD overhaul in this course.
