Advanced Certification Opens Up More Dive Opportunities
Simply put, not having Advanced Certification can hold you back from some of the best diving. Many dive trips require an Advanced certification, and most charter operators ask for it before taking you to deeper or more challenging sites.
Taking the Advanced course isn’t just about getting the card, it’s about gaining access to a wider range of diving adventures at home and abroad.
Build Skills That Make You a Better Diver
The Advanced Open Water course is designed to make you a more capable and confident diver through a mix of guided dives and hands-on learning. Across five adventure dives, you’ll practise navigation skills, learn to plan and conduct deeper dives safely, and gain experience in a range of new underwater environments. Each dive builds your comfort and control while reinforcing good habits that make every dive safer and more enjoyable.
Two of these dives are required: a Deep Dive, where you’ll explore depths of up to 30 metres and learn how to manage air consumption, buoyancy, and safety procedures at greater depths; and an Underwater Navigation Dive, which sharpens your ability to find your way using a compass, determining distances and using natural landmarks.
At Diving Sports the remaining dives are selected by your instructor based on your experience, dive site, and conditions — giving you the chance to expand your skills in a variety of ways in the optimum ways.
The focus here is on practice. You’ll complete short eLearning segments before heading out for real-world application. By the end of the course, you’ll feel more comfortable with your gear, more aware of your surroundings, and ready to take on new environments.
