Why train with us?

  • Low student to instructor ratios : 3 or 4 students per instructor both in the pool and ocean

  • Our retail store is located downtown.

  • Diving courses available all year-round. Private courses available.

  • We teach children 10 years and older.

  • Passionate team of Instructors and Divemasters who love to teach.

Using a Drysuit for your Wreck Training :

If you have a drysuit specialty certification and can show proof of recent experience diving in a drysuit, you may rent a drysuit for your Wreck Training. If you do not have a certification or recent experience you will be required to do some dives prior to your Wreck Training in order to be prepared.

Equipment Rental :

Rental Equipment is not included in the Wreck Diver course, but it is available to rent. Spools/Reels and backup lights for wreck penetration and line practice are REQUIRED and not available for rent.

Transportation :

Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 6 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis. Meet times are 1 hour earlier for those needing transportation to ocean dives.

Having a buddy, someone to train or dive with is not required as divers will always be ‘buddied’ up if alone but there are discounts available for more than one student signing up. The discount is applied by ‘adding a buddy’ at the bottom of the sign up process.

Who Should Take the Course

Any diver interested in expanding their dive knowledge and skills and want to learn how to safely explore underwater shipwrecks.

Wreck diving can be one of the most exciting aspects of sport diving, however every effort must be made to maximize safe diving techniques. The SDI Wreck Diver Course will discuss the equipment and techniques commonly employed while wreck diving. This course may be taught as a non-penetration, 2 dives required, or as a limited-penetration course, requiring 4 dives. Limited-penetration is defined as a swim through or within the ambient light of entry point.

Course Description:

  • You will receive an eLearning code for the knowledge development portion of the course to be reviewed before your ocean dives.
  • We will spend a full weekend diving (Saturday and Sunday) to complete your training
  • Day 1 we will be shore diving at a local site to review eLearning material, practice land drills, and underwater skills. Day 1 is also an assessment day for your instructor to give you guidance on what skills you will need to need to improve in order to achieve certification.
  • On Day 2 we will be boat diving on one of our local wrecks called the Annapolis. We will be mapping the wreck, practicing drills on the exterior, and depending on student ability we will be planning limited penetration using lines.
  • Due to the inherent risk of wreck diving, some students may be asked to return to complete the full Limited Penetration certification.

  • Course Prerequisites:

  • Advanced Open Water Diver/Advanced Adventure Diver required
  • Divers must have a deep diver specialty certification or be able to provide proof of experience in order to dive deeper than 18 metres/60 feet in this course (10+ logged dives deeper than 18m/60ft)

  • What You Will Learn
