Looking to keep up with scuba diving even when the weather is cold? Have a new piece of gear you want to try out? Want to brush up on some skills? Grab a buddy and join us for a pool evening!

These are 1 hour, unguided pool sessions at Lord Byng Aquatic Centre. You’ll have access to our pool space and are free to swim around, work on skills, or test out your new gear! You will not have a divemaster or instructor’s supervision, so divers are expected to dive safely and act in accordance with their training.

Please note that divers must have been diving within the last 6 months, and these drop-ins do not substitute proper refresher training. If you have not been diving recently, please join us for a Pool Refresher course first!

Transportation :

As we will be arriving with our classes a little earlier than those doing a drop-in pool session, we ask that you please organize your own transportation at meet us at Lord Byng Aquatic Centre.


What's Included :

  • Access to indoor pool space for 1 hour
  • Time to independently practice skills & buoyancy
  • Rental equipment (additional cost)

    • How does it work?

  • Preregister, and book your rental gear if required
  • 9:00pm - meet us at Lord Byng Aquatic Centre around the back of the building. We will be setting up our gear outside and taking it through the backdoors.
  • 9:15pm - take gear inside onto the pool deck, get changed into your swimsuit, wetsuit, and gear. Shoes off on the pool deck please!
  • 9:30pm - complete your buddy check, and head into the water. Please check in with a Diving Sports team member first to get directions on where to dive. We will likely be sharing pool space with another group, as well as our own classes, so it is important to stay on our side of the pool and keep away from classes.
  • 10:25pm - exit the water. Our pool time is from 9:30pm - 10:30pm. We must be out of the water by 10:30pm, so please give yourself plenty of time to wrap up and be out of the water on time.
  • 10:45pm - pool is closed. All gear, tanks, and divers must be out of the building! If you require extra time to dismantle your gear or change, please exit the water early to give yourself enough time to be out of the building by 10:45pm at the absolute latest.

    • Who are Drop-Ins for?:

  • Certified scuba divers looking for some indoor pool time to practice skills
  • Divers must have been diving within the last 6 months
  • This is an unsupervised activity, so divers must be confident in setting up and checking gear, as well as diving independently of a divemaster/instructor

    At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our divers (Scuba and Freedivers) receive the best possible experience while maintaining a high standard for safety, both for the divers, the guide, and the environment we are visiting. Our dive guides have many years of experience diving locally in cold water. All Dive guides are trained in first aid and oxygen delivery. First Aid kits and DAN Oxygen Kits are present on all trips and courses. Dive sites or dive plans may be changed due to weather conditions or experience level of the group, as well as anyone not adhering to proper dive practices will politely be asked to adapt to better interact with the underwater environment.
