Passionate team of Instructors and Divemasters who love to teach.
Using Drysuit for Advanced :
If you have a drysuit specialty certification and have some recent experience diving in a drysuit, you may rent a drysuit for your Advanced Course. If you do not have a certification or recent experience you will be required to do some dives prior to the Advanced Course in order to be prepared.
Equipment Rental :
Diving Sports includes all the basic gear included in our Drysuit and Wetsuit rental packages. Mask, snorkel, dive computer, and DSMB are not included in the course but are required, and may be rented.
Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 6 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.
BUDDY SPECIAL :
Having a buddy, someone to train or dive with is not required as divers will always be ‘buddied’ up if alone but there are discounts available for more than one student signing up. The discount is applied by ‘adding a buddy’ at the bottom of the sign up process.
Who is this course for:
After finishing the Open Water course, a lot of divers want to know what is next for them. The next logical step if you are interested in expanding your skillset and diving limits is the Advanced course. We always say that you do not have to “be advanced” to take the course; the Advanced course is designed to take you to the next level and help you become an advanced diver. Once you have done a few dives following your Open Water course, or if have been diving for years, and you have a good mastery of the basic skills then the Advanced course may be the next step for you.
(Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old are ready to step up and enroll in a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver course. Young divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives and have different training limits – please check with us on these details. Students who complete the Advanced certification course will be able to dive to a depth of 100ft (30m).
What You Will Learn:
Over the course of your training, you will complete five dives total. Two of those dives are mandatory and they are the Deep Dive and Navigation dive. You are going to learn how to safely dive to depths as deep as 30m/100ft and how to more effectively use a compass underwater as well as some natural navigation techniques. The other three dives will be chosen by the instructor out of a list of optional specialty/adventure dives. These will depend on student experience, site, and site conditions etc..
Commitment to Safety Enjoyment
At Diving Sports we believe in making sure all our students are receiving the highest quality instruction and customer service. Our instructors are open and honest about what your needs are during each part of the course. This means it is normal for some students to be asked to return for extra training (pool or ocean) prior to certification. This ensures all of our students walk away with everything they need to be safe and have fun for every dive they do following the course.
