Diving in a Drysuit :
If you wish to rent a drysuit for our fun dives you are required to have a drysuit specialty certification or have done some drysuit training directly through us. If you haven't tried it yet, have a look at our Drysuit Specialty Courses! We'll teach you everything you need to know.
Equipment Rental :
Diving Sports can provide all the necessary gear for rent during your dive trip except a mask and snorkel. Personal gear such as computer and dive light, although not always mandatory, are highly recommended and are available in the dive shop.
Transport can be provided from our shop to the dive site. We have our shop van (limited to a 4 passenger maximum capacity). Available passenger places in the shop van will be provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Staying Up to Date :
We are always adding trips and updating our calendar. Have a look every so often or subscribe to the calendar to be the first to see new upcoming trips!
BUDDY SPECIAL :
Having a buddy, someone to train or dive with is not required as divers will always be ‘buddied’ up if alone but there are discounts available for more than one student signing up. The discount is applied by ‘adding a buddy’ at the bottom of the sign up process.
It’s in the name, we are going fun diving! We organize guided fun dives for divers of all experience levels so if you are unfamiliar with our local dive sites or don’t have a dive buddy to go diving with we have got you covered. We decide on the dive site based on diver experience and overall preference. One of the best parts about fun diving is being able to relax with a group of divers and tell stories and have a good time.
We will be either meeting at the shop at 8am in the morning or 8:30-9am at the dive site, depending on if you need transportation. We will set up all of our gear, do a site briefing and assign buddy teams then it’s time to go diving. Dives will be about 45min - 1hr. There is always an hour surface interval between dives so divers will want to bring lots of food and water to eat and drink in between and after the dives. We plan both shore dives and boat dives right here in Howe Sound so we have dives available for everyone, no matter if you prefer shallow walls or deep wrecks. After the 2 dives we are usually back at the shop between 3pm and 4pm.
Our longer day trips will be taking you to different dives sites around the coast so you can explore more diving in BC. We are going to places like Sunshine Coast, or Vancouver Island for the day to experience some new diving. Usually those days will start early, meeting at the shop if you need transportation, then catching the ferry to drive to the dive site. We have different trips for shore diving and boat diving, but all will get you home in time for dinner!
We are planning lots of local trips around BC, usually to Vancouver Island, to access some of the best diving in the world. Trips our staff love take us to Nanaimo for their walls and wrecks, Campbell River for the diverse walls and wildlife fed by tremendous current and of course Port McNeil and Port Hardy (commonly known as God’s Pocket). Our longer trips will vary in length since distance is a factor as well as how much diving you are able to do depends a lot on the tides and time of year. Some bigger trips are so amazing you have to spend a day or two more to make sure you can experience as much as possible.
